My name is Cat and I live in Hackney, East London.

My love of the outdoors is something that I came to later in life. I didn’t grow up camping or hiking, and the only tent that I owned was for festivals (and actually, even that belonged to my Dad).

I really enjoyed the little glimpses that I’d had into ‘the outdoors’ over the years and I knew how good exercise made me feel. I wanted to give hiking and backpacking a try, but I really wasn’t sure where to begin. I decided to start small with day trips close to London and last summer I hiked the John Muir Trail – 211 miles through the High Sierras in California- solo.

Developing the confidence and knowledge to get outside and enjoy adventures big and small, has been nothing short of life changing for me. I want to share my experiences and what I’ve learnt along the way, to show that it’s never too late  – or as hard as you might think – for you to do the same.
